Dear New City Elementary Families,

It is with great excitement that I introduce myself as the new Principal of New City Elementary. I am truly honored to join this wonderful school community and couldn't be more excited to work alongside the incredible students, staff, and families who make NCE such a special place.

As a proud graduate of the Clarkstown Central School District, this opportunity is especially meaningful to me. Some of my favorite childhood memories are of the kindness, encouragement, and support I experienced throughout my years in Clarkstown schools. Those experiences shaped who I am, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to give that same sense of belonging and care to the students of New City Elementary.

Community has always been at the heart of my work as an educator. I believe every child should walk into school each day feeling welcomed, valued, and excited to learn. The way students feel when they enter our building matters just as much as what they learn once they are here. My goal is to help create a school where every child knows they belong, every family feels connected, and every staff member is proud to call NCE home.

I also believe that parents are our most important partners. When families and schools work hand in hand, we create the strongest foundation for children to grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Together, we can provide our students with the encouragement, consistency, and opportunities they need to thrive.

As we prepare our students for the future, we know they will need to be confident using technology in an ever changing world. Just as important, though, is helping them become kind, resilient, empathetic, and thoughtful people. While technology will continue to shape tomorrow, it is character that will define the leaders our students become.

Mission Statement

Children must come to school healthy and ready to learn. In order to keep your child(ren) healthy, we suggest to follow the below information.

Absence/Late:
Please contact the nurse and leave a message.

Lice:
Check your child's hair on a daily basis for lice. If you treat your child, please report the treatment to the school nurse. This will assist us in controlling its spread.

Rash:
If your child has a rash that is itchy or oozing, keep them home and seek the advice of your physician.

Red Eyes:
Your child should be kept home, and you should seek the advice of your physician if they have red, itchy eyes with a discharge.

Strep Throat:
If your child is tested for strep throat, they should remain home while awaiting the results of a throat culture. Your child may return to school following 24 hours on a medication with a physician's note.

Temperature:
If your child has an elevated temperature (over 100 degrees) in the evening or morning before school and symptoms of a cold, cough or sore throat, keep them home and seek the advice of your physician. A child should remain at home for 24 hours following an elevated temperature.

Upset Stomach:
Your child should remain at home for 24 hours following a stomach or intestinal upset, or until they can resume their normal diet.

Please contact me immediately if your child has contacted a communicable disease or is hospitalized.

Children may be excused from gym and recess for one day with a parent's note. A medical note is required for longer exclusions or following surgery, hospitalizations or serious injuries.

Physical and dental exams are required for new entrants and students in grades kindergarten, 2 and 4. Scoliosis exams are required in Grade 5. Forms are available here and in the nurse's office; a doctor's universal form is also acceptable. Children who have not brought in their completed forms will be scheduled to be examined by the school physician and a local dentist.

Bell Schedule

The school day begins with all students in their seats ready to learn at 8am and dismiss at 2:35pm.
