Souper Bowl Champions

The Kansas City Chiefs might have won Super Bowl LVIII, but we have our very own "Souper Bowl" champions here in Clarkstown CSD — the New City Elementary School Cougars! The third grade recently completed a writing unit called "Persuasive Writing, Changing the World." As a conclusion to the unit, third graders held a fundraiser to combat hunger in the community and used their persuasion skills to convince fellow students and staff to make a contribution during one morning’s announcements. The week before and after the big game, the Cougars filled up a giant soup pot by the front desk with coins and loose change. The result? $225 was donated to People to People to purchase food for those in need. Well done!
